Just 2 People – An Inspired Poem

just 2 people

Just 2 people
In separate worlds,
Jack & Rose,
Nature’s curse unfolds
Tom & Summer,
Woe’s distant hearts
Sebastian & Mia,
Love’s shatter starts
Ice cream’s sweet, Cakes so rich
Hydrangeas bloom, Eustomas pitched
Eagles soar, while Bears stand tall.
The two of us, a destined fall.
North and South, in endless divide
Daylight fades, while Night’s shadows ride
Raindrops weep, during Sunbeam’s warm
Our hearts held captive, in a silent conform.
I tried holding on, you wouldn’t elucidate,
Emotions lost, our decisions straight.
Perhaps one day
Destiny shall realign,
When we’re both ready,
Our souls will intertwine.

Drawing inspiration from iconic couples like Jack and Rose from Titanic, Tom and Summer from (500) Days of Summer, and Sebastian and Mia from La La Land, this poignant poem titled “Just 2 People” delves into the intricate nuances of relationships that didn’t culminate in the picture-perfect endings they deserved. It encapsulates the essence of the “right person, wrong time” phenomenon – a bittersweet reality that often plagues star-crossed lovers.

Through its vivid imagery and evocative storytelling, the poem starts by presenting the three pairs as symbols of ill-fated unions. Each pair’s journey represents the tangled threads of love and timing. The poem’s verses intertwine the couples’ stories with the writer’s personal world and experiences, forging a link between the emotional turbulence of relationships and the unpredictable nature of relationships.

The references to ice cream, cakes, flowers, and majestic eagles and bears serve as metaphors for the richness, communality and strength of the bonds shared by these two people.

The North-South divide, contrast between daylight and night time with rain and shine imagery further emphasize the idea of separation and the inevitable segregation of long-distance relationships that are meant to be but held back by farness.

However, the poem does not completely dwell on the melancholic aspects of missed opportunities. It hints at the potential for a future reconciliation, a time when destiny might conspire to align their paths once more. This glimmer of hope suggests that, despite the pain of separation, the connection between these two souls remains unbroken, awaiting the right circumstances to anew.

In summary, “Just 2 People” isn’t just a poetic exploration of lost love; it’s an intricate tapestry woven from the threads of cinematic romance and human experience. It beautifully captures the essence of love’s fragility and the powerful impact of timing on relationships, leaving readers with a sense of both heartache and optimism. The poem stands as a tribute to the resilience of love in the face of life’s unpredictable currents, a reminder that even when love’s journey takes unexpected turns, its essence endures.
