  • Cry for help

Suicidal behavior is a cry for help.

Crisis situations which need immediate attention are those in which someone’s safety is threatened. They include

    • destructive behaviour,
    • suicide attempts,
    • threats of hurting oneself or others, and
    • severe side-effects to medication.

Knowing what to do can help prevent a tragedy.

Make a list of phone numbers that you can call for help. This list can include how to reach

    • your parent,
    • teacher,
    • counsellor,
    • social worker,
    • the suicide hotline,
    • the nearest hospital emergency room,
    • the police, and
    • any other services you think will be helpful in a crisis.

When a crisis happens, call for help and calmly state the situation.

If possible, get another person to help you deal with the situation as this will lighten your burden and will help you respond more effectively.

If you need to speak to someone about your problems, you can contact us to make an appointment or walk-in to the CHAT Hub at Level 5, *SCAPE to schedule an appointment.
